In a step that reflects the commitment to strengthening economic and trade relations between the Syrian Arab Republic and the Republic of Lebanon, His Excellency the Minister of Economy and Industry, Dr. Nidal Al-Shaar, issued Decision No. 61, providing for the formation of the Syrian-Lebanese Business Council on the Syrian side.
The Decision appointed the Council's Executive Board as follows:
Dr. Laila AL SALMAN – Chairperson of the Business Council.
Mr. Ismail Affara – Vice Chairperson of the Business Council.
Mr. Riyad Aboujei – Vice Chairperson of the Business Council.
Mr. Adeeb Bsatneh – Executive Director of the Business Council.
The Decision confirms that the Syrian-Lebanese Business Council is the only council officially recognized by the Ministry of Economy and Industry and that it operates in accordance with the Bylaws governing the Syrian Joint Business Councils with countries around the world.
The formation of the Council comes within the framework of supporting the economic partnership between Syria and Lebanon, strengthening the role of the private sector in advancing trade and investment relations between the two countries, and creating new opportunities for cooperation in pursuit of shared interests.
The Syrian-Lebanese Business Council looks forward to launching a new phase of effective institutional work based on building strategic partnerships, expanding investment and trade opportunities, and strengthening communication between the business communities in Syria and Lebanon, thereby contributing to sustainable economic development and serving the interests of the private sector in both brotherly countries.
