Dr. Laila Al-Samman, President of the Syrian-Lebanese Business Council, chaired the session titled “Financial Challenges and Opportunities to Support the Private Sector” as part of the Syrian National Private Sector Dialogue Conference. The session brought together the Governor of the Central Bank of Syria, Mr. Mohammad Safwat Raslan, the Deputy Minister of Finance, Mr. Mohammad Abazid, and a number of representatives from banking and financial institutions.
In her opening remarks, Dr. Al-Samman emphasized the importance of constructive dialogue among all economic stakeholders to develop practical solutions that strengthen the private sector and improve Syria’s investment climate. She also expressed her hope that the conference’s outcomes would contribute to supporting the country’s economic recovery.
The session featured in-depth discussions on the current state of banking and financial services, the development of electronic payment systems, expanding financial inclusion, and strengthening the role of financial institutions in supporting investment and stimulating economic activity. Participants highlighted that these efforts are key to creating a more attractive and business-friendly environment in the period ahead.
