Biography
Hussam Sharkia is a distinguished businessman and entrepreneur with over 30 years of experience in international trading,
industrial development, mining, logistics, and fertilizers across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. As the Founder and Chairman of Sharkia
Holding Limited (DIFC), he has successfully built and led a highly diversified economic group. Under his strategic vision, the group has
established a strong international footprint, which includes:
• FutureFert (Egypt): A state-of-the-art fertilizer manufacturing complex in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, producing NPK
and specialty fertilizers for markets across the Middle East, Europe, and Africa.
• BICC Cables & Electro George: Leading Egyptian manufacturers of low-, medium-, and high voltage cables and
electrical equipment.
• Sharkia Energy (Syria): Developing integrated electrical industries, including switchgear, transformers, and power
solutions, supporting Syria’s industrial reconstruction.
• Amana Trading & Mining: A company specializing in phosphate mining and logistics.
• Mediterranean Fertilizers: A robust distribution network operating across Lebanon, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, and
Zambia.
Hussam is currently leading strategic investments in Syria across the electrical industries, mining, fertilizers, and infrastructure sectors,
contributing to the country’s industrial recovery and long-term economic development.
In addition to his corporate leadership, Hussam has been a member of the International Fertilizer Association (IFA) since 2006 and was
appointed an IFA Ambassador in 2024. He is also an active member of the Arab Fertilizer Association (AFA), reflecting his deep
commitment to advancing the industry and supporting global sustainable agriculture.
